Ask for a physical sample if one is available, then view it in your room at different times of day and next to the fixed finishes you cannot change. A photo or screen image is useful for a first filter, but it cannot show how a colour shifts with your light, flooring and wall tone. A little more perspective.

Colour matching is about relationships, not isolated swatches. Compare the sample with your floor, wall, large textiles and any permanent features. Look for undertones: warm, cool, green, pink or yellow casts become more obvious side by side. Also consider texture and sheen. Matte and gloss surfaces reflect light differently, so the same nominal colour can read lighter, darker or more formal depending on the finish. Always confirm the actual material name, finish code and care instructions from the manufacturer.

A practical test is to live with the sample for a few days. Move it around the room, place it near the sofa or cabinet it will sit beside, and view it from seated and standing positions. If you are matching a set, check whether the pieces are sold as a coordinated collection or as individual items with their own colour names. When in doubt, choose the option that works with your least changeable surfaces and let accessories carry stronger colour.
